Minis Pediatric Walk-In Clinic is proud to offer testing services, where we can do a thorough run-down on your child’s health. Our testing services cannot be easily found in other pediatric clinics, therefore when you have specific concerns about your child’s health, Minis Pediatric Walk-In Clinic is your best choice.

From simple hearing testing to EKG testing, everything you could ever need can be found here with our pediatric doctors. We encourage you to get your little one tested the minute you notice any signs or symptoms.

Mono Testing

Mono testing is one of the many services we provide. Mononucleosis is an infectious disease caused by a virus. The infection attacks antibodies in the blood, which is what a test looks for. These tests usually have a quick turnaround time, meaning you get your child’s results within an hour or so. This test can usually be done through a throat culture, the same way children are tested for flu or strep.

You should have your newborn tested for mono right away, especially if they have been exposed to someone with the infection. It can take a while for symptoms to arise, but you should take care of this immediately, nonetheless.

RSV Testing

Our pediatric doctors can also test your newborn for RSV, respiratory syncytial virus. This test is made to detect the presence of RSV in nasal secretions to determine a diagnosis. If your newborn has a weakened immune system or is showing symptoms such as a runny nose, decrease in appetite, sneezing, cough, wheezing, you should get your child tested right away. RSV is usually most contagious during the fall and in early spring, meaning there is a wide time frame as to when your child can contract this virus.

Hearing Testing

Hearing tests should be done for children as soon as they enter school. Most children start school between three years of age to five years of age. The reason for this is because they can easily contract infections, especially when they are around other children.

To test your child’s hearing, a pediatric doctor will conduct a physical examination and look through your child’s medical history. If the doctor finds any abnormalities, they will schedule a follow-up to further discuss these health concerns.

EKG Testing

Pediatric electrocardiograms (EKG) are also offered at our clinic. This is a non-invasive test that looks at the heart to analyze the electric activity going on. Electrodes are attached to specific areas on your child’s arms, legs, and chest to be able to get a close look at the electric activity.

Should we detect any complications in the patterns of the electric signals, we will inform you so we can run more tests. EKG testing is important if your child is experiencing chest pains or palpitations.
